Perth is a vibrant city and home to many of the State’s major arts and cultural attractions and host to numerous festivals and events. Here you can enjoy a diverse range of experiences all year round.
Most attractions are open daily and offer interactive experiences and guided tours to enrich your visit. State-of-the-art entertainment venues present a diverse range of theatre, dance, music, comedy and film showcasing the State’s rich creative spirit.
If you’d like an insight into the extraordinarily rich traditional and contemporary Western Australian Indigenous culture, you’ll find it here. Australia’s leading Aboriginal theatre company, Yirra Yaakin, is located in the City, as are a number of specialist Indigenous art and craft retailers. The Western Australia Museum and Art Gallery of Western Australia both maintain exhibitions showcasing Indigenous culture.
The Perth Cultural Centre in Northbridge is home to the West Australian Museum, The Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, The State Library and the State Theatre Centre.
In the evening, immerse yourself in music, as venues come alive with the sounds of local and interstate bands. If classical music is more to your liking, the acoustically magnificent Perth Concert Hall offers regular performances by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, as well as shows by touring artists.
The City houses a range of performing Arts venues. Enjoy performances by the West Australian Ballet, the West Australian Opera at Edwardian-era His Majesty’s Theatre. Or visit the State Theatre Centre Western Australia’s newest performing arts venue to see the latest productions of the resident theatre companies Black Swan State Theatre Company and Perth Theatre Company. The State Theatre Centre’s also presents touring work, contemporary dance and music events.
