Population
Aboriginal people make up approximately 3.4% of the Western Australian population and 1.6% of the residential population of inner-city Perth. The overall percentage of Indigenous Australians is 2.5% of the total Australian population.
 
History (brief)
The Noongar people are the traditional owners of the south-west of Western Australia, in which Perth is situated. The language group traditionally connected with the land in which the city of Perth is located are known as the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Events and Important dates
 
  • Australia Day Survival Concert – 26 January each year. ------  The City of Perth hosts the annual Aboriginal concert as part of the Australia Day celebrations on the Foreshore. For information on this annual event see Show Me Perth
  • Sorry Day – 26 May each year
  • Reconciliation Week – 27 May – 3 June each year
  • NAIDOC Week – from the first Sunday in July each year.  -----  The City of Perth supports the Opening Ceremony of NAIDOC Week at Wellington Square on the first Sunday of July. Other City of Perth supported activities take place throughout the city and are promoted on the City of Perth website. http://www.naidocperth.org/
  • International Day of the Worlds Indigenous Peoples – 9 August each year
