Cultural Sponsorship Program
The City of Perth Cultural Sponsorship Program promotes innovative arts and cultural activities to excite and engage City visitors, residents and workers.
Cultural sponsorship invites organisations, performing arts companies, individuals and community groups to propose city-based arts and cultural activities. The Cultural Sponsorship Program nurtures and supports culture in the city, thereby enhancing quality of life; contributing to the economy, increasing the vitality of the city and attracting city visitors.

There are four categories of Cultural Sponsorship:
Objectives
The objective of Arts Project Sponsorship is to support arts and cultural activities that:
· encourage creative development;
· promote high quality local art projects.
Eligibility
(for complete eligibility requirements please refer to Cultural Sponsorship Guidelines- Projects)
To be eligible for cultural sponsorship the project must:
· display innovation and excellence;
· contribute to the vibrancy of the City’s public spaces;
· be located within the City of Perth Boundaries.
Funding Amount
Arts Projects are for up to $15,000.
There are two rounds of funding per financial year.

The objective Creative Community Sponsorship is to support arts and cultural activities that:
· encourage communities to actively participate in the life of the City;
· encourage use of the City’s venues.

To be eligible for cultural sponsorship the project must:
· be community based;
· contribute to the City’s cultural diversity;
· contribute to the vibrancy of the City’s public spaces.

Funding Amount
Fast Response Projects are for up to $2,000.
There are no funding rounds for Fast Response Projects.
Applications need to be received two months prior to the event commencement date. Applicants will be advised of the outcome of the application within three to four weeks of receipt of application.
Applicants are required to discuss Arts Partnerships at least once year in advance of application with the City's Arts Officer. Organisations requesting Arts Partnerships must be able to demonstrate a history of successful partnerships with the City of Perth.
Applications for Cultural Sponsorship are ineligible when the application is for:-
· an activity that has already occurred or will occur prior to the time-frame provided;
· fund raising or commercial activities;
· capital expenditure such as purchase of equipment, real estate, renovation or repair of buildings;
· training, education or research activities, or conference costs;
· State or Federal agencies or departments;
· an organisation that has previously shown unsatisfactory management of Sponsorship received or has presented unsatisfactory or incomplete reporting;
· An applicant that has previously submitted an application for cultural sponsorship for activities within the same financial year.

Please note that applications received in the following ways will not be accepted:
· Applications post-marked by the deadline and received following the closing date;
· Emailed applications;
· Faxed applications;
· Incomplete applications.

All applicants will receive a letter confirming receipt of their application within three to four weeks.
The City of Perth receives more funding applications than it can support. The success of your application is determined by its merits against the funding criteria and program objectives, and in competition with other submission.
The CEO considers funding recommendations up to $2,000.
The Marketing, Sponsorship & International Relationships Committee consider funding recommendations up to $10,000.
The Council considers funding recommendations over $10,000.
The City of Perth will publicly announce the results. All applicants will receive a letter notifying them of the result of their application.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Successful applicants will be required to:
- sign an Agreement with the City of Perth that outlines conditions of the sponsorship;
- issue the City of Perth with a tax invoice for the sponsorship amount;
- advise the City of Perth when there are changes to key personnel;
- submit an acquittal report on completion of sponsored event or program.

Applicants proposing activities in the City’s public places, streets, parks or gardensmust discuss their project plan with the appropriate representative of the City of Perth prior to submitting the application. Applicants must include quotations and booking details for any City of Perth outdoor spaces or venues at time of submission.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide to the City of Perth all required information and documentation relating to the use of outdoor spaces. Such information might include documentation and quotes in respect to public liability insurance, community consultation, risk management as well as event plans in respect to traffic and pedestrians.
Please note that the City of Perth may not be able to approve all events prior to the sponsorship deadline. The granting of sponsorship does not constitute approval of the event or the venue.

CITY OF PERTH BOUNDARY
The City of Perth boundaries are Winthrop Avenue, Thomas and Loftus Streets in the West, Newcastle Street and Graham Farmer Freeway in the North and the Swan River to the East and South. It does not include King Park. It does include Heirisson Island.

ACQUITTAL
A completed Acquittal Form (in Word format, in PDF format) is required on finalisation of your project. The Acquittal is a report on the project outcomes and how funds were spent. Evaluation of the funded project by acquittal is essential.

As agreed in the cultural sponsorship contract, the acquittal report should be received within three calendar months of the project completion.

Event Sponsorship
The objective of event sponsorship is to financially assist organisations to stage and present free or low cost city-based activities in public places. Event sponsorship is a cost effective means of presenting events and activities in the City, thus the cost of sponsoring an event must be less than the cost for the City of Perth to produce and manage the event.

Donations by the Council reflect the philanthropy of the Council and a commitment to improve the well being of the community of the City of Perth.
