Wellington Street (Elder Street to Milligan Street)

As part of the Perth City Link project the City of Perth is required to undertake streetscape improvements to Wellington Street between the Freeway and William Street. The enhancement program will be implemented in two stages. Stage 1, between Elder Street and Little Milligan Street, will commence on Friday 6 January 2012.

The work includes:
• paving and kerbing to median islands and footpaths on both sides of the road;
• creation of a shared zone for cyclists and pedestrians on the northern side of Wellington Street;
• new tree planting and street furniture; and
• new multi-functional light poles in the median.

The work will be undertaken by the City of Perth, Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) and Perth Arena. The City will be responsible for median work and the southern side of Wellington Street. The pavement on the northern side will be constructed by MRA and Perth Arena as part of closing out their projects.

Initial work is the realignment of the median kerbing and northern traffic lanes of Wellington Street from Milligan Street to Elder Street. This work will commence at the Wellington and Milligan Street intersection and will progress west to Elder Street. While this work is being undertaken the lane closest to the median will be closed and traffic directed to the northern most lane heading east.

Further information on this project is available from Bob Pavlovic, Project Manager, on 9461 3445 or bob.pavlovic@cityofperth.wa.gov.au

The City appreciates your patience while we undertake this work to transform Wellington Street to a classic tree lined boulevard providing an inviting pedestrian friendly environment.
